MINERALOGY: Erythrin is an intermediate form of mineral alteration which contains cobalt and arsenic, and its chemical compost is the same as the phosphates and vanadates. It has a number of variations of nickel, iron, zinc and calcium, which may partially replace the cobalt, the glass of erythrina has oblique terminacions, its most common is the acicular, but may also be prismatic or laminar.
 
MYTHOLOGY: The best known crystals come from the bouts of Bou azzer (Morocco) some of which reached 15 centimeters in length. Erythrina was first described by the French geologist François Beudant in 1832 by an occurrence in Grube Daniel, Schneeberg, Saxony
