Seraphinite

ETYMOLOGY: It got its name because in this dark green mineral a shiny silver threads that look like wings, alluding to the seraphim angels or intertwine.

CRYSTAL SYSTEM: Monoclinic.

PRINCIPLE OF FORMATION: Secunadria / tertiary.

CLASS MINERAL: Silicates.

CHEMICAL FORMULA, MINERAL ELEMENTS:(Mg Fe Al) 6 [(OH) 8 (AlSi) 4 O10]

HARDNESS: 2 - 2.5 on the Mohs scale.

FIELDS: Siberia (Russia).

 

MINERALOGY: The serafinita is a particular variety of clinochlore, with a complex chemical structure of hydrosilicate magnesium, iron and aluminum. The clinochlore belongs to a group of minerals called chlorite, which are formed by hydrothermal alteration and metamorphic origin of iron and magnesium silicates in Earth's crust, with feathery silver and brightness caused by inclusions of mica.

 

MYTHOLOGY: It was discovered by the Russian mineralogist Nikolay Koksharov (1818-1892 or 1893). The Serafinita is a mineral that is known as Gemological chatoyancy (that is an effect of optical reflectance from the French "Oeil de chat," which means "cat's eye" are fibrous inclusions or cavities within the stone).

 

PROPERTIES: It is said that serafinita has a cleansing effect on the heart chakra, opening to love, is an excellent stone for spiritual enlightenment and to access the self-healing, helps us to review progress in life and identify changes needed, green minerals have a harmonizing and neutralizing effect, the Serafinita releases feelings, increase the speed and responsiveness and arouse interest and enthusiasm.
