ETYMOLOGY: It comes from the greek "stilhos" meaning bright.
CRYSTAL SYSTEM: Monoclinic.
PRINCIPLE OF FORMATION: Primary.
CLASS MINERAL: Silicates (tectosilicates).

HARDNESS: 3-4 on the Mohs scale.

MINERALOGY: In late low temperature hydrothermal origin, occurs in cavities of volcanic rocks bubbles, druze and crannies of pegmatites, granites, in cavities of basaltic rocks and other magmatic rocks, it belongs to the group of zeolites.
MYTHOLOGY: The stilbite is known for centuries as an independent mineral and until 1997 it was cataloged within the group of zeolites. the shape of some crystals of this mineral were called "sheaf of cereal" that are wider at the ends and narrower in the middle.
