ETIMOLOGY: Cobalt: It comes from the German kobalt (elf) Calcite: comes from the Latin calx, meaning Cal.

HARDNESS: 3 on the Mohs scale.

MINERALOGY: The cobaltocalcite is a variety of mineral group 5 (carbonates) according to the classification of Strunz. It is a chemical variety of calcite, it is presented in botryoid, irregular crystals. Spastic and compact masses.

MYTHOLOGY: The cobaltocalcite is not recognized as valid by the mineral IMA (International Mineralogical Association), which considers a variety of calcite containing cobalt.
