ETYMOLOGY: By the dutch anatomist and physician Sylvius de la Boë.

CRYSTAL SYSTEM: Cubic.

PRINCIPLE OF FORMATION: Primary.

CLASS MINERAL: Halides.

CHEMICAL FORMULA, MINERAL ELEMENTS: KCl.

HARDNESS: 1.5 - 2 on the Mohs scale.

FIELDS: Suria, Cardona and Sallent (Barcelona).

 

MINERALOGY: Precipitates with sulphates and chlorides of calcium, magnesium and potassium as gypsum, anhydrite, in the sedimentation process it is sometimes interlayer (two layers) with clays which is a set of very plastic material which deforms and generates diapirs (is a type of intrusion that forces a deformable mobile and more ductile material through brittle overlying rock). A sometimes precipitated from fluids of volcanic origin.

 


MYTHOLOGY: The silvina forms in dry places and especially in deserts, temporary flooding and salty lakes are rivers, Silvina's name derives from the name given by the early chemists as "digestive Sylvio salt" referring to chemical Sylvius Boë (1614-1672).
