ETYMOLOGY: From the Greek kinnabari = vermilion (in reference to its color) also from Arabic zinjafr or Persian zinjafrah, meaning dragon blood.

CRYSTAL SYSTEM: Hexagonal.

PRINCIPLE OF FORMATION: Primary Tertiary.

MINERAL CLASS: Sulphides.
