ETYMOLOGYIt is the combination of the two minerals (azurite = blue) (malachite = mauve, malakos by its green color and its soft hardness).
 
CRYSTAL SYSTEM: Monoclinic.
 
PRINCIPLE OF FORMATION: Secondary.
 
MINERAL CLASS: Carbonates.
 
CHEMICAL FORMULA, MINERAL ELEMENTS: Cu3 [(OH)2/(CO3)2] + Cu2 [(OH) 2/CO3] + H2O + (Ca, Fe).

MINERALOGY: The malachite azurite is a basic copper carbonate rare, which is caused by rainwater containing carbonic acid in the oxidation zone of copper mines.

 

MYTHOLOGYThe malachite azurite is even rarer that azurite not known traditions. Near the fountain of Florida is the old copper mine was mined ore called azurite and malachite.
