ORBICULAR RHYOLITE

ETYMOLOGY: Comes from the greek rhyax meaning 'power' and lithos meaning 'rock'.

CRYSTAL SYSTEM: Trigonal.

PRINCIPLE OF FORMATION: Primary.

CLASS MINERAL: Silicates / oxides.

CHEMICAL FORMULA, MINERAL ELEMENTS: SiO2 + (Ca, K, Na) [AlSi3O8].

HARDNESS: 6.5 - 7 on the Mohs scale.
