TIBETAN QUARTZ

ETYMOLOGY: QUARTZ = comes from the Greek word "kristallos" meaning ice. And "Hard" in Slavic. TIBETAN = the place where this mineral is extracted.

CRYSTAL SYSTEM: Hexagonal.

PRINCIPLE OF FORMATION: Primary.

CLASS MINERAL: Oxides, quartz group.

MINERAL ELEMENTS CHEMICAL FORMULASiO2 + Mg + C.

HARDNESS: 7 on the Mohs scale.

FIELDS: Himalayan Mountains (Tibet).

 

MINERALOGY: Quartz is a mineral composed of silica, quartz crystals are transparent Tibetan slightly smoky, doubly terminated with carbon black inclusions.

Quartz "Black" is called, as they often have black inclusions, although there are also clear examples.
